Can't help on the waterfall part but so far, very few churches here openly admit to marrying a non christian to a Christian!piyushdabomb wrote: In your opinion, what are your top 3 non-denominational favorite Churches in Singapore.
Based on your requirement, it is impossible to get non-denominational church with a large crucifix with Jesus Christ. Usually cathedrals of (Roman) Catholic denomination have large crucifix with Jesus Christ, either in front of the sanctuary or below the main steeple.piyushdabomb wrote:Hi Everyone,
My fiancee and I are going to get married between April 21-23 (we're having a three day wedding, both Hindu and Christian) and in the Christian part of the wedding, we'd like to get married in the most beautiful exquisite classical "non-denominational" Church in Singapore.
In my eyes, beautiful includes:
1. An amazing view of Jesus Christ and the others along the walls/windows.
2. A VERY well maintained building.
3. I'd like to have other things other than the Church there, including a waterfall.
4. etc...
In your opinion, what are your top 3 non-denominational favorite Churches in Singapore?
We have about 300 people coming to the wedding.
IIRC, non-denomination churches in Singapore usually refers to contemporary/charismatic churches, some of them are mega-churches because they need to cater to a wide range of background.Strong Eagle wrote:I think you're screwed. I googled, "non denominational church singapore". All I came up with is dozens of far right Christian churches... seems like liberal theology is not existent in Singapore... closer to the middle ages.
well .. now if you did know those 'mega' churches are not so accommodating those of other religions, when it comes to officiating marriages !zzm9980 wrote:Isn't the entire Suntec center a nondenominational mega church? The even have water fountain feature for OP!
The few people I know who we go to those kinds of mega churches went to places like Singapore expo.
Non member ? how about non-Christian ??Addadude wrote:I very much doubt that any church will allow you to have a proper cermonial marraige in their sanctuary unless you are a member of that church. For some churches, where the pastor is a licensed solemnizer, they might allow non-members to have a civil union on their premises but that will vary from church to church.
And catholic churches are very loathe of marrying non-Christians to Christians, atleast officially !!the lynx wrote:Your definition of beautiful classical exquisite church would have to be a Roman Catholic cathedral. Many options. For contemporary modern church wedding look with non-denominational leaning, your option would be The Star Vista (New Creation Church).
Accomodating, yes, I am married to one !the lynx wrote:Squirrel, you will surprised to know how accommodating Catholics are compared to far right Protestants/non-Catholics (which seem to make up of the majority) around here, not in terms of doctrine, but rather their approach to fellow human beings.
I knew you're gonna harp on the seemingly antonymous details, that's why I worded my previous post carefully.ecureilx wrote:Accomodating, yes, I am married to one !the lynx wrote:Squirrel, you will surprised to know how accommodating Catholics are compared to far right Protestants/non-Catholics (which seem to make up of the majority) around here, not in terms of doctrine, but rather their approach to fellow human beings.
But Catholic priests officiating marriages between a Christian and a non-Christian ? officially it is a NO-NO
During every service I never fail to hear the priests reminder that the church doesn't recognize marriage of a non-Christian with a catholic and more than a fair number of church priests in Singapore will refrain from officiating such a marriage ! Yes, I asked a few !!!
PS, it is not about "MEMBERSHIP" in the church ...
I quick read and missed the NOTthe lynx wrote: I knew you're gonna harp on the seemingly antonymous details, that's why I worded my previous post carefully.
Refer to the text in bold.
Marriage --> doctrine
Behaviour towards others --> no correlation to doctrine
In essence, you and I are on the same boat.
Tell me about it! The Advocate Father of the Catholic Church threatened to excommunicate my wife if she married me (even in a civil ceremony). Her parish priest told us years later, had he known what was to transpire (and the grief it gave my wife at the time) by following protocol and asking permission from the church lawyer to marry a twice divorced pagan and a OTT Catholic, he would have married us without asking the church and taken the flack for it later. But he did "bless" our rings after we got married in a civil ceremony at the ROM and subsequently gained the rights to our children by baptizing them as Catholics anyway. I could care less, as I used be a card carrying Presbyterian until I quit the church in 1960. Been agnostic for over half a century now. But each to their own. I've nothing against ANY religion if it makes that particular follower a better person for it.ecureilx wrote:Accomodating, yes, I am married to one !the lynx wrote:Squirrel, you will surprised to know how accommodating Catholics are compared to far right Protestants/non-Catholics (which seem to make up of the majority) around here, not in terms of doctrine, but rather their approach to fellow human beings.
