Dude, outright prices are shown as well; you gotta read.

Tapatalk is one of the reasons for the upgrade.

The old version of the forum was installed in 2002! Many new mods and addons do not support it.

Have you guys noticed that I have shrink many items now? The viewforum and search post pages are now quite compact.

:) The colour definition between the background and the frames is more pronounced now. I like it and can live with that. And yes, I have noticed a shrinkage without me having to do a browser resize via control & mouse. It'll take a little while to iron out the kinks but over all, I think the upgrade will be worth it. Us old fogies are just resistant to change! ;-)

Generally the upgrade is good. The old version was very unresponsive and the scripts crashed regularly.

The one real pain is the dhtml (or similar) removal of the scroll bar. If you wish to view a list the scroll bar disappears and you have to move the mouse to get it back before continuing to scroll.

Yes, you can use the arrows but just keep the scroll bars as usual.

Thank you.
Is the scroll bar removed? Which browser are you using?

Nope, not just you. After having gone through Lord Duarte's design guidelines, I have never looked at anything's usability the same way again.

And I'm like, a small percentage of your age, with you being 942 and all.

But yeah, the current CSS makes everything so much readable and pleasant now.

I like the responsive layout, but it seems the actual forum posts have a maximum width. On my display (2560x1440, not that uncommon anymore) I just start getting a lot of white space when making the browser bigger than a certain point (about 1150 pixel for total browser width). Is it possible to make the forum column grow wider?

Meh, I still cant login for more than 5 seconds using IE11/Win8.1 64bit.

But I can log in on Avant browser using the IE11 standards rendering engine. :???: :???:

I am pretty close to giving up on this site now, its driving me nuts every time I try to log in.

When I read this topic (accessed by clicking on the URL in the e-mail notification 'You are receiving this notification because you are watching the topic, "Forum Upgraded!" ...) ... *stop press*... it’s just changed!...

I was going to say that there is a vertical space (empty) between Home/About Singapore/Expat Guides etc running across the top, and the space that contains the Facebook and Twitter etc icons below. The space occupied by those icons had a height of maybe 1.5-2” which was otherwise empty. Anyhowz, one way or another is has now shrunk to a more appropriate size.

View Active Topics only brings up this one. So I’m wondering what the definition is here for inclusion. The layout is the same as the above, no excessive spacing.
View New Posts would seem to show the equivalent of ‘Posts since last visit’, i.e. for me, any posts that I haven’t read, since last night [7 posts, and ditto re: spacing, plus on the two screens below].
View Unanswered Posts returns 1000+ posts, going way back, that apparently haven’t received a reply.
View Unread Posts, 36 hits, some going back a while. Maybe this is topics I’m following that have received a new reply + new topics I haven’t read?

I’m still finding it a bit challenging figuring out the difference between the above 4 sub-sets, and how people might use them. The spacing though, and redundant space, seems much improved.

Have you clear all cache and cookies in your IE11? I am very sure it will work cos the login works fine in my IE11 too.

The cookie in your IE is causing you to logout as the server IP is now different, forum version is also different.

Otherwise you should consider using Chrome. Much faster than IE or Firefox.

I have been deleting cookies n cache like mad trying to get this to work.
I learnt something new today though...

...when you go to delete browsing history data in IE11, you can select which data to delete. Cookies, temporary files etc. What isn't so obvious is that right at the top of these options and automagically pre-ticked is a box that is "Protect data for favourite sites" meaning "we know you want to delete cookies but tick this box if you don't really want to delete cookies, just pretend you've deleted them then go on pulling your hair out because you thought you deleted them but didn't really".

So yeah, I thought I had deleted them a million times, but really, I hadn't.

You shall be graced with my presence until the next upgrade, at least. :-"

Now, firstly I am not really fond of devs who blame browsers. Appreciate the mistake was all mine, but the world's second largest broswer can't be ignored if that is where the fault lies.

Secondly, in the latest iterations of Chrome and IE, by some benchmarks (Sunspider) Chrome is slower than IE. You can find any benchmark to prove any point, but sweeping statements like "its faster" I find to be a matter of perception mostly.

Thirdly, Chrome doesn't allow me to pin websites to my taskbar, and browse to different sections of those sites directly without opening a browser. Yeah, really you can. Try pinning facebook to your taskbar and right-click. See!

Fourthly, the continuous-browsing experience from my laptop to my surface to my windows phone is seamless. I can pick up from my post on here from my laptop at home and continue posting on my phone in the taxi on the way to work - the same tabs are available to me on all my windows devices. Yeah yeah, they say Chrome does that but I haven't even seen chrome for windows phone yet so, no. It doesn't do that at all.

Fifthly, you want me to use a browser by the single biggest data-mining company in the world with some of the most ambiguous and dodgy privacy policies? Just to go on your site? Nah, thanks for the offer.

Sixthly - if any site author/dev wants to specify the browser I am permitted to use they can fcuk right off. That is tantamount to living in 1996 and saying "Best viewed in Netscape Navigator 800x600". Actually, its *exactly* the same and is considered to be equally poor development technique if a site isn't compatible with THE SECOND MOST POPULAR BROWER IN THE WORLD.

So yeah glad it was my mistake with the cookies, otherwise your comment about using Chrone would have pissed me off.
