Singapore Expats

Hi all,

I have a bit of an unusual query that I am hoping somebody will be able to help with. My google searches and phone conversations with MoM have not been fruitful.

I was supposed to transfer to SG with my employer (something I requested) in 2 months for a period of 2 years, however we have a new CFO, who would like to retain me and has asked if I would be willing to work from him remotely from Singapore rather than working for the SG office.

I am happy with this, however I am wondering if I would be entitled to a work permit under these circumstances (or if one would be required? I am entitled to a LTVP by marriage).

For context, the reason I need to be in SG is because my wife is working there and we have already been apart for 12 months.

Is anybody to advise on the potential feasibility of this? I think it should be OK from a Permanent Establishment perspective (tax), but I have no idea re: migration law...

Nope. Not going to happen. You will have to work for the Singapore Subsidiary if you want an employment pass. Otherwise, furgeddit. Trying to work remotely will put you in violation of local law the first time you walk into the local company or do a referral to same or use their facilities for any reason, whatsoever. Even then, I don't think it would be possible as long as there is a registered office here.

Is you wife a Singapore citizen per chance?

Do some searches on this board regarding LTVP+ and the requirements required. Also do some searches for working as a consultant for your wife's company. If she is a SC and not a PR that is.
