if it's just checking for vision, etc, you can pop into your local "spectacle shop" and ask if the optometrist is around. some will do it for free in return for your patronage of their products if correction is required...

otherwise, google for national eye centre or just visit your GP for anything serious. the GP will refer you to his most favoritest ophthalmologist if necessary.
