Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced standard home contents insurance policy? the ones i have been quoted are very expensive...

The premium is roughly between 100 and 250 SGD annually depending on the package. I can only comment on this part because I don't know what happens if you need to make a claim. In that respect I can dis-recommend A.I.A. I was paying them something ~120 for a number of years and when water flooded apartment from the balcony it was not possible to get anything because only floods from broken pipes were covered.
