SAS special services

Hello all,
There is a high likelihood we will head to Singapore next summer. There are a lot of ducks to line up between now and then. While the hubby is squaring away the working details, I have to figure out what is best for the kiddos.

My oldest has a 504 plan here. I am wondering how much and how well SAS supports students with needs. He doesn't need an aide, but he definitely can make a teacher earn their keep. Looking on their site, and on this one, I see they do have services, but I also realize they are private and in the end can choose how to help.

I have sent inquiry to the school, but while I wait for a response I was hoping to hear from someone with experience.

I heard back from SAS and received all the right answers to calm a concerned mother. I am still hoping to hear from people with actual experience with SAS support services though. Anyone?

There seem to be very few people in your situation here (as you can imagine, having a disable child limits people's options for expat work).

My wife tutored an autistic girl and has some kids with various medical issues in her class so it's not impossible, just harder.

We didn't look at SAS, but when checking out other International Schools and asking about support for learning disabilities etc., the sales person made all the right noises but then (subtly) made sure we understood there was a limit to the level of special needs support the school was willing to provide...

My daughter has received in class support from SAS for the last two years. They are fantastic. Now, she is at the lighter end of the support spectrum I suppose, and will probably "graduate" out of the support program next year. But our experience has been very good. She came into the school very behind due some learning issues we knew she had + being placed in a crap International School for two years (not SAS). With their support, her progress has been remarkable and she is now more or less at grade level across her subjects.

They have it set up so that she gets learning support in class a couple of times a week. We also have a tutor. You pay extra for tutoring but they are on staff with the school, which is a real help as they work hand in hand with your teacher.
