It's October now, and the first available date to submit PR application is in April 2015. Really?! Just to be able to submit the application?!?! Anyone get any earlier dates?

Always like this. Check at late nights/early mornings. People are cancelling appointments and free slots are opening all the time. After a few tries you will be able to catch a slot within a month or so (or if you are lucky - even next day). You can make 2 (3?) amendments to the date, so if you keep looking, you can shift the slot for earlier in several iterations.

Thanks for your reply, that is super helpful. I'll check the site every day then and see if I can get an earlier slot.

I think the policy of checking often helps. I just booked my appointment today morning after deliberating for 6 years to apply for a PR; and got a slot for 17 Dec. I see that there are at least 5 slots available for that day. I count myself really lucky to have got a slot so soon, the next available slot is on 2 Jun 2015.

The only way is to check everyday after midnight for any cancellation slots.

Walk in to EPSC and explain your circumstances. They will likely let you walk in, but you will wait for a long time before being seen.
