India’s Modi begins rock star-like U.S. tour

Post by Wd40 » Sat, 27 Sep 2014 11:19 pm

http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/asi ... story.html

Thousands of supporters are expected to throng midtown Manhattan on Sunday to greet India’s new prime minister, Narendra Modi, a reception more befitting a rock star or a pope than a visiting foreign dignitary.

I know the Indian Embassy in NYC is big, but I hadn't realised it has quite that many staffers it could send.

To get there early is on time and showing up on time is late

but still the kids with SG passport can't avoid NS

BTW, have you done any reading on OCI/PIO ?

other than the convenience, you are also aware of the fact that it gives another revenue stream for unscrupulous law enforcers to collect money under the scheme, threatening OCI/PIO card holders are illegally having invested etc ?

Modi should enforce law and order, and weed out corruption as a priority, without which a fair number of former Indian passport holders or descendants aren't pretty comfortable ...

I haven't heard of any such issues faced specifically by OCI/PIO. They deal with the same level of corruption and extortion that ordinary Indian citizens have to
