I'm not sure what you're quoting me on, something from last year?

What similar exists in the UK, I wasn't aware of such.
My mistake, oops. the job bank aka hire a local first is contained in the Fair Consideration Framework.
All I am saying is the UK has something similar aka hire a local first then EU then foreigner etc.

Enshrined in law? I've not heard of such and since there is no quota system re: nationality I can't see how it might work. So, I'm left curious :) Can you link it please?

no quota system as such. I knew of this when one of my friends used to be colleague told me about this recently when I complained about the work permit and hiring a local issue.

https://www.gov.uk/browse/visas-immigration/work-visas

Its more about a *duty* to hire a local because trying to get a work visa its difficult.

I think the issue is being conflated.

You suggested there is an equivalent of the FCF in the UK. But your quoted link is simply to the 20+ kinds of work visas a foreigner might apply for. I think that's the equivalent of looking at the list of SGn work visas that a foreigner might apply for here. The FCF is an additional layer, of 'positive discrimination' towards locals, if you like. This is on top of the historic SGn 'FT work visa quaota system'.

I'm unaware of anything like the FCF in the UK, and if it is a 'Duty' as you suggest, then it must be enshrined within a law, or at the least a legally enforceable 'Code of Practise' that is incorporated into consideration of such law.

Anyway, I think this is probably a simple misunderstanding, but IMHO I'm unaware of anything like the FCF in any Western country.

Agree with you, there's no quota as such but maybe you are unaware of such immigrational issues because you are a citizen of a western country. It does tell a tale, since there's a *duty* as such given the immigration issues that the country has been facing

It's not 'as such', in the absence of something to the contrary it's 'at all'. I just didn't want the impression left (for others, both present, and whom might follow) that there is anything like hiring vs visa status quotas + the FCF in 'the West', that are in addition to simply qualifying for the visa in the first place.

I know several non EU-ers who are EU based, and who have qualified to work there. Anyway, we must be coming at this with 'crossed-purposes' as such, so no matter :)

On to more interesting and more productive matters (not least for me reading the tea-leaves on what the EU markets might do today!).

Rock on! :)

Now Where have I seen some tenders that say the team must be from x country and they company must be 100% owned by citizens of same country ?

They were not sensitive projects I saw, but regular marine industry contracts ....

On another note 100% of Japanese Aid to third world countries are always channeled via Japanese companies and exclusively using Japanese equipment and labour ...
