Hi there. I am beginning to apply for teaching positions in international primary schools for next year. They all talk about a 'generous package including accommodation...' But I would like an idea of what that actually means in terms of monthly allowance. Or does that mean they have accommodation already sorted? I presume it means they pay a monthly amount and you choose a place but how much is that likely to be? Thanks for your help.

Neither do we, you'll have to ask them. Everyone's candidate's package will be different based on how well you negotiate, as will each school offer differently.

It might also depend if you are coming over as a single teacher, married, teaching couple etc. Most of my teacher friends receive an allowance which is included in their monthly salary. It's a pretty decent amount (depending on the school obvs.) So much that a couple of teachers i know have chipped in and are renting a 3 bed penthouse
condo! Ballpark figure; as a single teacher you should expect low to mid 1000s, again dependent on your experience/negotiating skills.

Depends on a bit on the school BUT...
ICS/CIS - it will be a cash allowance.
Others not sure (I think SAS will pay directly to the LL).
It's usually NOT enough to rent a decent place completely on your own unless you are a couple (two allowances) or you club together with others (three) with the exception of some high end schools (SAS for example seem to pay enough for my wifes friends to rent small
condos on their own but they may be dipping into the salary?).
