*sigh* I guess my 4S will stay with 7.1.2...read a few articles that it's just not worth the new features, because it takes too much of the processing power...
My thread...The Weekenders If you need my e-mail address, it's in the first post of the thread.
But it also more granularly lets you control what apps are doing what in the background, and see specifically which app is using up your battery.Akimbo wrote:*sigh* I guess my 4S will stay with 7.1.2...read a few articles that it's just not worth the new features, because it takes too much of the processing power...
Re: iOS 8
My experience is positive, but I'm biased. I also have strong financial incentive to tell you "Yes, you should upgrade your devices".Steve1960 wrote:Anyone have early experiences of the latest operating system?
We have an iPhone 5S, iPad air and iPad 4th Gen and I am debating whether or not to upgrade.
If you Google a bit, there are more lists of "What new features are in ios8" than there will be ill-informed and inaccurate anti-Apple fanboy comments in reply to your post. (And I predict a lot)
Here's two:

Well I did it last night. Three iPad's and a 5S. All seem to be happy with the upgrade and no issues with missing information or Apps. None of the devices seem to run slower.
Download, installation and set up around 35 minutes for each device. No error messages or other problems.
I have not had a chance to play with the new OS myself yet but the wife seems pretty pleased with some of the new features

Well that would be a good thing...zzm9980 wrote:But it also more granularly lets you control what apps are doing what in the background, and see specifically which app is using up your battery.Akimbo wrote:*sigh* I guess my 4S will stay with 7.1.2...read a few articles that it's just not worth the new features, because it takes too much of the processing power...
I guess I'll try it out during the weekend.

That's what SHE said.zzm9980 wrote:But it also more granularly lets you control what apps are doing what in the background, and see specifically which app is using up your battery.Akimbo wrote:*sigh* I guess my 4S will stay with 7.1.2...read a few articles that it's just not worth the new features, because it takes too much of the processing power...
(Sorry; couldn't help it).
@Akimbo: as with any update, see if the pros outweigh the cons.
I know Singapore legally binds telcos but I never did like the idea of getting a phone through carrier, with the locking and stuff (again, I know it doesn't happen in Singapore). I guess this just reinforces my bias.zzm9980 wrote:And don't order it through M1... hah:

"A quokka is what would happen if there was an anime about kangaroos."
Keep in mind (just like ANYTHING on the Internet), the people with issues will make 20-50 very loud posts about it, and those will get reposted. People where "everything is working OK" don't usually go and make anywhere near as many posts saying "nothing wrong here, business as usual".Steve1960 wrote:It seems lots of people have had issues but nothing here
iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPad retina mini, iPad retina, iPad 4th gen
All working fine
