Dive Trips
Dive Trips
Hi everyone
Newbie diver here. Just picked up diving since I moved to Singapore from NYC. Completed my PADI open water in Gili Trawangan, Indonesia not long ago and would like to continue diving on a regular basis.
Please could you let me know if you have any info or perhaps you are planning a dive trip soon? Would love to join. Many thanks!

Just saw this. Haven't been on the forums for a while.
I'm actually heading out to Tioman again on Friday to do some weekend dives. Not sure if there are any spots left for the group that i usually go with, but i can find out if you are interested, albeit short notice.
But there are plenty more dive centers out here in singapore. It's just a case of finding one that you like and are comfortable with.
There's always the Padi dive shop locator on their website, http://apps.padi.com/scuba-diving/dive-shop-locator/
Otherwise, i'll be heading off to Phuket in October for a short week of diving.

Some of the nearest good diving is Tioman, Malaysia. You can or used to fly there on Berjaya Air. Check to see if they're flying there right now, they're rather seasonal. Can also go overland if you like long but cheap transits/journeys.
In my experience, rather than trying to roster a group for a trip before you go and from back home, it's just better to go to a destination, and let the destination dive-centre fit you into a group. The latter is absolutely par for the course, and done on a daily basis.
Years ago I tried to get a dive group up here, and it was like a flock of seagulls, a complete waste of time. Now I 100% just head for a destination and sign up for what ever their 'daily diving' will bring. Works a treat.

A most unlikely place, like a palm-thatched walk-up Irish bar with space for a dozen people, with gourmet western food, where the proprietors are guys who are laying on (everything up to) 100m+ super-tech trimix diving, whilst their wives are back 'ome peeling the spuds ready for dinner.
It's almost too unlikely, surreal. I'd return at the drop of a hat.
It is also somewhere I'd take a non-diving partner (incl my wife!), as it's verging on Robinson Crusoe -like. It is so undeveloped it makes the Gili Islands seem like a Kuta-like-hell in comparison.
-- as always, somewhere like this takes time to get to. Indeed, that is why it's not yet trashed as it is relatively very remote. But boy oh boy are the rewards good...

Really, it's not very smart posting from your employer's IP address when it's their travel agency you are flogging.hallllo wrote:There are quite a number of places around South East Asia, depending on whether you like big or small animalsSimilans, Lembeh, Bali, Komodo, Raja Ampat, Anilao, Donsol and more

SOME PEOPLE TRY TO TURN BACK THEIR ODOMETERS. NOT ME. I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW WHY I LOOK THIS WAY. I'VE TRAVELED A LONG WAY, AND SOME OF THE ROADS WEREN'T PAVED. ~ Will Rogers
