Interesting choice of terms there, as I always get flashbacks of Miami when I'm there. Love having breakfast at the upstairs hawker centre! It's a heritage neighborhood, and one of the oldest HDB's still standing. My guess is that the individual owners would lease them out, same as others. But I haven't looked that closely to know for sure.

Which buildings are we talking about here? Those short 2 story HDBs?

I think that's what was being referred to by PNGMK. They're a bit higher, at least 3 stories at the heritage HDB zone.

I heard a few blocks are actually
Service Apartments. Some are actually owned by individuals. I know of people who actually viewed the apartments above those shophouse units along kim tian road.
