Anyone know where I can buy a Framed World Traveller Map?

Post by gabby27 » Tue, 09 Sep 2014 10:25 pm

Hi Everyone,
My son lives in Singapore and I am visiting him from the UK before Christmas and wanted to buy him a large framed World Traveller Map that he can stick pins in to say where he has travelled in the world. National Geographic do beautiful ones but the shipping from UK is so expensive and I was hoping I could buy one in Singapore either on line for delivery or when I am out there to give to him. I would be so grateful for any help or guidance. Thank you

There are a series of stores called "The Planet Traveller" that stock faux-adventure travel type gear, including maps. Similar to National Geographic stores in the US and elsewhere, but lower quality and more expensive. There is one on the top floor of Orchard iON, and one in Changi airport pre-security for T2 or T3. Probably more.

Note that the cost may be comparable to just shipping from the UK.

Do you mean something bespoke like this? ... http://www.mapsworldwide.com/wall-maps/ ... -42228.htm

Or a world map that he can stick pins/stickers on?

I rather doubt the former is available locally. I expect you can get generic laminated world maps here. Another alt would be buying a world map here and getting it laminated and/or mounted on board here ... there are plenty of places here who can do that.

I bought a world map from Kinokuniya, and had it laminated and frame (with a styrofoam back) somewhere in Little India.

Peace Centre at Selegie/Sophia Road. As I recall you can hardly move on the GF for print/mount/frame shops and kiosks, with very large format clearly on offer.
