Leaving Singapore - Student Pass Question

Post by Aemona » Thu, 04 Sep 2014 2:49 am

Hi all,

I have a quick question. I am finishing my studies on the 26th September and my flight home is on the 30th Sept at 2am. My student Pass expires on the 3rd October. I can't find an information anywhere (or maybe I misunderstood some stuff that was there?) regarding leaving Singapore and surrendering my student pass. Can I do it at the airport normally just going through the passport control (as if I would if I just had the disembarkation card) or do I need to do anything special? Like go to ICA or something?

I know that if I was staying past the 3rd I'd have to go and hand it in, but I'm not sure how to handle it since I'm leaving early…

Thank you very much for your help! :)

I actually still have my student pass. I never returned when I left for a couple of years and then came back on other visa/EP, etc.

You should ask the immigration officer. Although I think once it expires, whether you keep the pass or return it should not matter since you cannot use it anyways.

The proper way when you want to leave Singapore after you finished with your study, is to cancel your student pass. You can cancel your student pass by going down to ICA office in Lavender personally. Upon cancellation of your student pass, you will be given the white card (a card where you usually obtain when you arrive in Singapore as a tourist) by ICA. In addition, ICA will give you a stamp in your passport that shows you can stay for another 15 days in Singapore.
