Living in Lorong Chuan

Post by Nwankwo » Wed, 03 Sep 2014 9:46 pm

Very good afternoon,

I am moving to Singapore in the next weeks along with my family. After some research using the main property websites, I found a very nice condo close to lorong chuan mrt.

Would you kindly share some info about the area? I checked on streetdirectory, but it would be great if somebody who knows the area first hand can share some info.

We are also looking for a preschool for our 3 years old daughters. I found Mindchamps @New Tech Park (10 minutes walk). Any advise or anything I should know about them?

Thank you so much in advance,

I used to stay in Springbloom opposite the MRT station. There's not much to say about the area. There are some condos. There is the station. There is a Junior College. Everything else is a 5-10 minute walk away.

Our kids go to Shaw's pre-school in Lynwood Grove. It's walkable from the MRT station (there's a cut-through that might not appear on the map).

Thanks for your reply!

This same evening, before you posted I found Shaw's and By-The-Park also near Lorong Chuan. They look pretty good, are you happy with Shaw's?

I already sent mails to the three of them (to Mindchamps a couple of weeks ago but I didn´t get any reply :( )

May I ask how much you pay in Shaw's and if there are application fees or any other strange fees I have seen while checking International Schools?

Thanks again for your time,

We're pretty happy with Shaws. Its owned and run by an Australian expat, so it feels a bit more western (i.e. relaxed) in approach than some of the kindergartens here.

You should probably ask the school about fees. It's a bit of a moving feast depending on half-day/full-day, sibling discount, working mother subsidy etc.

Great!

I got a mail from Shaw's and it seems the Braddell centre is not having any vacancies as of now, they referred me to the Carmichael branch.

Using google street view I was quite impressed with the Braddell center, but the image I have seen from the Carmichael center doesn´t look so good. It seems there is a parking next to the playground area... :o

Anyone knows if these images are as it is now or if they are old pictures? There is a board at the facade where I can read "Kinderland"... I thought maybe they bought the building... Any inputs from Shaws@Carmichael?

Thanks again,

Our daughter is currently at that particular mindchamps you were looking and she absolutely loved it.

I think the one big difference I realise about Abby (my little girl) is that she seem to have 'matured', not in a bad way mind you, but subtly.

For example, she is able to listen and comprehend what we are trying to tell her, without having to go to great length of dialogue & animated hand gestures.

Give them a shot.

Let me speak to the mrs. to get you the contact. Strange that your emails has gone unanswered; they are usually very on top of things from what I heard.

hey.. so the mrs. told me that there are 2 person whom can be of assistance.

1. Mei (Ms):
a. +65 9274 9275 (mobile)
b. [email protected] (email)
2. Michelle (Ms):
a. +65 9147 5938 (mobile)
b. [email protected] (email)

Talk to them about their curriculum and how they engage the kids at their centre; its all about allowing children to integrate without losing their sense of self.

The mrs. has already given them the headsup.

good luck!

I think there's nothing much in Lorong Chuan. But I must say that it's convenient, because mrt station is located between 2 mrt interchange (bishan and serangoon), and both have a lot of amenities. Which condo are you looking at? :)

Hi March04,

I am looking at The Scala@Lorong Chuan. TOP 2014 and with great facilities.

My only concern is regarding the size of the 2nd bedroom where we are supposed to fit 2 child beds. Based on what I have seen in some of the pics of the 2bhk flats it looks pretty small.

Anyone living in the Scala and willing to share some info??

Thanks!!!

Heyo,

Scala is small. No doubt its new but you have to bear with the space.
You should be able to squeeze two single beds with not much walking space.

Do you cook? Kitchen might be small too.

But I am sure the fact that the condo is brand new, it is definitely more attractive than others.

Find a tenant's agent from this portal XXXXXXXXXXXXXX can bring you to a few condominiums there to take a look.

no fees required to engage one if you are looking at a contract of 2years and above.

cheers.
