And what reason would that be?

Wouldn't surprise me if they x-ref the FIN# with the IP address. Like how they link your ID to the EZlink card to where you travel + CCTV of you, and how SIM cards are linked to ID, and hence to phone calls (all screened/scanned) made.

And that's just a few of the the publicly known things...

Reason: Probably to prevent people from doing the kind of automation like the OP has done. It affects their bandwidth with way too much traffic, because the program that OP has written probably keeps polling the website, every second to check if a slot is available.

This also gives undue advantage to people who use tools like these to make appointments v/s people who don't. Sort of like high frequency traders.

You know some websites ask you to enter a display code, and they specifically write there that they are doing it to make sure that its a human accessing the website and not a program.

Might I suggest you contact ICA and

a) Ask if they have a problem with your site, and
b) Ask them if you can develop a similar functionality for them.

Your app really does help people. The bandwidth issues are a bit bogus.

I encountered a potential problem with it though, this morning at 9.00am exactly, I received what seemed to be a whole bunch of false positives in my inbox. I went to look immediately of course, but no openings showed up. Could it have something to do with a daily reset on their side or something?

Either way thanks for sharing, and at exactly the right time for me to boot...uncanny :D
In my experience early PR dates are hard to get get but the calendar is reset at every 'whole' hour and especially at 0:00. People who changed their appointment dates will of course leave free slots. If at every whole hour you would refresh the page you will get to see all the newly opened slots. You have to be quick though because they fill up pretty fast as well (thus perhaps your false positives). This is how I scored a PR interview date only 2 weeks away.

Would be awesome if this app still worked!

I didn't find any dates available at all, even 1 year from now to get an appointment to submit my PR application... Anyone else getting dates?

Nothing is down

Everybody want to be PR. Hence the long back log. If you are committed, just wait. And keep checking for cancellations..
