Condo/Area recommendations for Young couple?

Post by Jeswantb » Fri, 15 Aug 2014 8:47 pm

Hello all,

My wife and i will be moving to singapore in a couple of weeks. She will be studying at INSEAD whilst i will be working in the city. I'm trying to pick an area to focus my apartment search on. Preferably, it would be a place that has more younger folks than families and is close-ish to all the action. i'm looking to spend ~3500 for a 2 bedder. Apart from Holland V, what are some of the better areas for yuppie types like us?

Thanks in advance for your responses...

River Valley area, perhaps? For that price you'd be looking at one of the not-so-recently-built condos (they generally have bigger rooms though), maybe somewhere just West of Great World City where the prices start coming down a little. I know someone in that area who is paying 4.5k or a 3-bdr unit so a 2-bdr shouldn't be far off the mark.

River Valley, Robertson Quay (might be higher than your budget), Tiong Bahru is where I'd suggest.

I agree. But Robertson Quay to River Valley will be a pain to travel to INSEAD from, without having to change a bus or a train. Not many buses that travel through INSEAD go through River Valley and Robertson Quay.

I suggest Tiong Bahru like zzm9980 said. Consider Harbourfront, Telok Blangah, Haw Par Villa MRT station area too because she can take the train to INSEAD (close to Sentosa, St James Power Station and short bus rides to the city and Singapore River for the pubs and clubs).

Rochester is also good. The condos behind Redhill MRT station close to Tanglin Road are also good.
