Stamford vs CIS vs Dover Court

Post by momofboys » Tue, 22 Jul 2014 11:46 pm

Have had some difficulties making a new posting so just amended an old one. But I don't think peopel see those as quickly as no one has commented since I made the update. Any thoughts on Stamford American school vs Canadian International School vs Dover Court? Those are my top choices at the moment for two boys going into senior kindergarten and junior kindergarten. Any thoughts on those? Anyone with exerpience with the dual language program at CIS?

Also if there are other schools that you think should be at the top of the list, please chime in on that as well!

Hi momofboys

Firstly in the interests of full disclosure, I work for the company that has just taken over Dover Court school. I'm not here to advertise, but I am happy to candidly answer any questions or concerns that parents of prospective students might have. We aren't trying to pretend that we are perfect for everyone!

You are very welcome to come and visit us at any time. We're in the process of a refurbishment and trying to make the school better for next year.

You can search through some of the other threads for perspectives on all of these schools. In general - in the case of the for profit International Schools in Singapore my advice is buyer beware. When you visit, ask a lot of questions about the governance of the schools, how much of the profits are reinvested in the school, teacher turnover, student turnover, and so on. Your children are young enough you are probably OK at most places but it's good to have a critical view.
