The small neighborhood bakeries don't worry about licensing but the quality is not guaranteed.nanana wrote:sourcing for ironman birthday cake for my boy. preferably not costing me a bomb. any suggestions?
contacted some of the commercial bakeries...apparently they can't bake one due to licensing issue.
Got a photo? I'm curious about the overall look using that.x9200 wrote:This is what we did for our son (not the ironman but a highly customized design)
1) we got (made) a generic, white top cake
2) ordered a custom designed printed topper on edible paper (aka rice paper, printing ink should be also edible) - I got one from Ebay. An example: http://www.ebay.com.sg/itm/Personalised ... 461c51921b
Turned out very nice.
Quality has gone way down in recent years, can no longer recommend them. On another note, they have a pretty good impossible burger.abbby wrote: ↑Sun, 20 Nov 2022 11:33 amSwensens has licensed cakes

They're all ice cream cakes and the cakes take a while to defrost before cutting otherwise it's impossible to cut it.
If you want a more fancy option, you can always contact one of the home bakers that are all the rage since CB and they will make you a custom cake to your specifications, alternatively if you want a more budget friendly option, Prima surprisingly does some pretty good cakes. Most of them are fresh cream based, and the cakes themselves are pretty light and fluffy. I would place them on the higher end of HDB style cakes.
