Just don't be rude and announce your cynicism to someone who really CARES about it.

I find 'Oh stop it will ya!?' works equally against all religions, and associated silly beliefs.

It is better to believe than to disbelieve. in doing, you bring everything to the realm of possibility.

Totally! We go with a bunch of friends, so maybe 6 of us. Smuggle in a bottle of vodka and order a few mixers, which definitely enhances the vocal range

I tend to stick to rock: AD/DC is a good all-around work-out, Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Prodigy is fun esp if you get up and 'become Keith' I almost always try 'Paint it Black' by the Stones as I crash and burn on it every time, but live in hope. You'd not have thought it hard as the range is narrow, BUT Mick Jagger must have huge lungs for a little guy and/or his breathing control is incredible, as I swear he never pauses for breath... that song is impossible to finish!

Bali has something similar, albeit due to other religious reasons. But they too would leave some food & drink out, add a coin to the paper tray, etc.

Only think I don't get is the money burning. I mean aren't the ghosts going to be really, really mad that someone is actually tricking them by burning plain paper? :)

i remember my chinese colleague told me there're either silver or gold markings on those papers to indicate the value. There are also hell money that looks like our bank notes that were burned as offerings to the spirits.. so freaky :o

We did our company burning on Friday evening , amusingly another company in our building had a couple of their foreign talents out filling up the oil drums for them, so that when the bosses came out to do the good stuff like lighting the fires , it was all ready for them :D
