People, think about one thing: there was nothing flying in terrorists' hands so far, so why would Ukraine ever bring anything anti-aircraft over there?
There were Ukrainian planes though delivering supplies to the battle zone near Russian border to those forces that got surrounded there...
And yes, it was a mistake. Stupid one. Apes got weapons. Who gave them those weapons? Some info from our defense minister - terrorists were planning to shoot down a Ukrainian military aircraft that was scheduled to take off that time. Somebody betrayed us and sold this information to Russians, but for some reasons the flight was delayed. Malaysian plane resembled ours, so there goes...

This is how, according to Russian media version, Putin is usually flying from Warsaw to Moscow. Enjoy!

Funny isn't it how people seem to vote in megalomaniac loonies... like they wish for the inevitable end-result of it.
Look at the us

It should be added why this was of any concern: some Russian media speculated that the Malaysian MH17 was shot down because the plane visually resembled (similar colors/patterns) the plane Putin traveled on on his official trips. This was later corrected by some representatives (probably already former representatives as of now) of the Russian airport Vnukowo who explained it was like this indeed but not true for many years already.
Also, I don't know if this gets through to the Western media but the guy mentioned earlier as most likely directly responsible for the whole disaster - Igor Strelkov / Girkin claimed in an interview for some Russian newspaper that likely MH17 carried already dead bodies with the pilots being the only alive people on the plane. He said, many bodies were not fresh (too fast decomposing in not so hot weather and with no blood) and only the cockpit was stained with blood.
Probably the most outrageous thing in this whole soviet style propaganda is Putin calling the Dutch Prime Minister to convey his
condolences.

From an air travel perspective events like this probably make it safer for the flying public. In common with all air disasters steps are taken to prevent or at least reduce the chance of reoccurrence.
I guess flying over war zones will become a thing of the past. We will probably see longer flights and higher ticket prices as airlines reroute.
It does seem that Malaysia was very unlucky here. There was an SIA jet just 15 miles away on a similar route, but for the grace of God....

The consensus was it was safe to fly over a war zone above 9750m. Still some airlines rerouted earlier their planes (Air Canada, Delta Airlines, Etihad Airways, Korean Air, Asiana, Qantas, China Airlines). Others not (British Airways, Air France, Lufthansa i KLM).

x9200, there are lots of Russian ridiculous versions of the event, most disproving each other.
They say, the buk is already transported to Russia over the border and destroyed. All of its operators are executed. Don't know if its true.
Btw, Ukrainian rescue groups reported that terrorists took away 24 bodies from the crash site - loaded into a truck and drove nobody knows where. Hiding the evidence! Wait for"objective and official" report from Moscow, and Putins "surprise": I dunno why you blame us for anything, there is no our fault.

Logic of Russians in Ukraine:
1) A "report" of captured truck with RPGs from Ukrainians is thrown out in social networks. Next day all terrorists are armed with RPGs.
2) "Report" of a captured 2S9 NONA appeared in networks. In a few days NONAs "procreate" rapidly.
3) "Report" of captured military base in Artyomovsk with tanks. Next days tanks are coming over the border in unlimited quantity ("there are "lots" of them "in Artyomovsk")
4) "Report" of a military base with buks is given (in reality - 2 rusted trucks with no rockets). Those rusted buks are being "renovated" rapidly. Oooopss! Malaysian airplaine is down!!!
What to do? Blame Ukrainians X 100. During major battle for Lugansk airport kill as many civilians as you can, don't let the bodies to be taken away - wait for Russian journalists to come and report about mass genocide by Kiev junta.
You think, last sentence was a joke? They're trying to overshadow the tragedy with Malaysian airplane by killing more civilians. Wait for more "interesting" stories from RussiaToday and LifeNews!
5) (finally) Major success yesterday by Ukrainians in defending Donetsk and Lugansk airports. There was a real battle. Most "leaders" of terrorists "resigned" or "went to rehabilitation" to Russia or Crimea. Why so much effort to defend airport? Look above at 1, 2, 3, 4. What will happen if they capture any large enough airport?

Despite the tragedy, Angela Merkel is calling for peaceful dialog and sees no reason to sanction Russia. Unlike all other European leaders, looks like she has a love affair with Putin. What to do with that bitch???

Btw, according to some info (true???) Russia closed flight corridor over Donbass before the airplane was taken down. Why? Did they know somebody is going out for an airplane shooting in that area? They say Russia has nothing to do with Ukrianian "conflict", that is internal Ukrainian affair... provoked by Obama and Americans... (you understand their logic if you can, myself - can't)

If one is curious how the Russian Interstate Aviation Committee (MAK, the Russian body similar to the American NTSB) works...
In 2010 the Polish government airplane crashed in Russia killing all its passengers including the President of Poland. The MAK report pushed all the blame to the airplane crew stating also many non existing "facts". Some belongings of the passengers (IIRC credit cards and mobile phones) have been stolen (reclaimed later). Poland did not get the wreckage of the plane until today.
