transferring audio file (from USB) into a disc

Post by nanana » Thu, 17 Jul 2014 11:44 pm

just wonder where can I go to transfer some audio files into a disc? I asked few of the photo shops in the neighbourhood, they only able to do that for picture files. There is one shop in Bedok that claims to have such service. But when I went in for enquiry, the lady said they can't do it with their computers in the shop, but will need to send it somewhere else for the job, and that will cost me $30 per hour...i was like WT... ?! broad daylight robbery?

Do you own a computer? You should be able to buy your own USB DVD burner (also does CD) for about or less than that $30.

Why can't you do it by yourself? It's pretty simple.
What are these audio files?
What cd burning software do you have?

I do have a computer, that doesn't have a disc drive. I do not have any cd burning software. It is just a folder of some kiddie songs that i need to use at my work place. I thought it is just a simple task that doesn't cost that much, so I'd rather pay for someone to do it than getting all the gadgets that I won't be using it after this. But guess I was wrong...

I transferred it to my phone, but the volume isn't loud enough. that's y i thought of transferring it to a disc and play it the old fashion way from a player.

How big are the files? If you can send it via e-mail (probably less then 30MB) I can do it for you for free.

It's probably still ok - I have no quota for my mailbox, I am more concerned abut your mail clients. I will PM you shortly with some details.

If you have a PC, Windows Media Player will burn CDs. ImgBurn is a better but more complicated free alternative.

On a Mac, you use iTunes.

I'm guessing you're not using Linux on your desktop.

Assuming the disk drive refers to a CD/DVD drive, this pretty narrows the options.

iTunes burns disks. Make a playlist, put songs on it. If you had a disc burner (USB ones are cheap as mentioned) and a blank disk in it, you'd have a button to "burn to CD".

You can have approximately 80 minutes of music per CD.

Oh wow. Burning audio CDs...

Funnily enough, I remember making mix tapes but not mix CDs.

I still have 2 or 3 reel tape players (like the one in my avatar).
If somebody is a bit sentimental towards this kind of things it is good to remember that they will disappear in one point (already happened for many) and get the best what's available from the 1st/2nd hand market at right time and the right price.
- film cameras, especially middle size 120/220 format
- turntables
- VCRs
..

Who remembers right now that only 10y ago the portable CD players were like nowadays the mobile phones (in terms of portable source of music).
