Sundry humour
Here's some sundry humour of a different kind...
Fika 'Swedish' Restaurant, Beach Road.
Nothing Swedish about it, for one they're halal (can you imagine that in Sweden lol?). And just the crappiest food I've had in a very very long time.
Maybe it's aimed at the 16YO kiddy-halal-posse who think they're being cosmopolitan. Avoid, avoid, avoid!
.... can't even get a beer to drown your sorrows re: the abysmal food. Not sure whether to describe is as a joke, or simply a jaw-droppingly wretched experience. Probably the latter as it really wasn't at all funny.
--- Statisticians: Suggested project, correlate halal food in foreign restaurants with poor quality. I suspect a very strong link.

B) But if they do, they'll need it to drown their self-inflicted sorrows
C) Gin is SO much better in every respect anyway.
Not intended as such, but he's completely needled it...
John Lewis being rather like Macy's in the US, or Robinson's over here... a good solid 'middle class' no nonsense department store brand.

'John Lewis has apologised to France after saying the country was "finished" and describing Gare du Nord station as the "squalor pit of Europe".
The comments, which were published by The Times, were made by the company's boss, Andy Street, who blasted the country as "sclerotic, hopeless and downbeat".
Apologising on Friday, Street said: "The remarks I made were supposed to be lighthearted views, and tongue in cheek. On reflection I clearly went too far. I regret the comments, and apologise unreservedly."
Speaking at a John Lewis event on Thursday, he told the audience that he had "never been to a country more ill at ease", saying that "nothing works and worse, nobody cares about it".
The gaffe comes ahead of plans for the launch of a French version of the high-end department store's website.
The comments provoked a backlash amongst the French, with many taking to Twitter to vent their fury.

Lake Life!? Isn't that a little too close to 'pond life'?

Er, so surreal that in parts the vids are hilarious. [Reminder to self, 1.01: The government spends taxpayers money, to try and make taxpayers more polite towards one another]

ha! i'll match your swedish disappointment with the Borshch Steakhouse in Serangoon Gardens. While it claims to serve Russian food,It's about as Russian as a cheap Smirnoff vodkaJR8 wrote:Here's some sundry humour of a different kind...

I know which one you're talking about. Was hanging out at Haji Lane area when I saw it. I was tempted to try, just to see what's so Swedish about it, and my gut instinct told me that I'm better off having Mediterranean food few doors down. And I didn't regret this.JR8 wrote:Here's some sundry humour of a different kind...

^^ Boy will I agree with that! And I tried them 20 years apart. If anything Borshch Steakhouse was bad back then and is even worse now. Oh, and the owner has a attitude problem as well.

@ Lynx. It's got the homely look and the blue and white gingham decor but IME it is dreadful. You know 'since when has pouring half a pint of cream on a plate of spaghetti been a Swedish dish'? I'm not a fussy eater, esp. when hungry, but that was so rich, barring scraping off the cream I couldn't eat it. I think the place must be sustained due to it's novelty...
Curiously enough there is/was a hugely overrated Russian restaurant near by Harrods in London (Beauchamp Place) called Borsch n' Tears. A group of us from our office went there for our office Xmas lunch (20+ years ago). It still stands as one of worst meals I've ever had... from the gulag style soup, a few white breadcrumbs in some warm water... onwards.sundaymorningstaple wrote:^^ Boy will I agree with that!
