Sundry humour
Re: Sundry humour
As I recall they used to parody Target by giving it a comedic pretentious name [French accent>] - 'Tar-jay'

Target used to run TV ads with a known designer using that pronunciation as tongue-in-cheek; probably less than a year ago IIRC.JR8 wrote:As I recall they used to parody Target by giving it a comedic pretentious name [French accent>] - 'Tar-jay'
FWIW, I heard that Aldi also got a different known designer for its clothing line.

Hmmm, that rings a bell, though I remember it from about 10/15? years ago. Perhaps it's a running theme/joke.nakatago wrote:Target used to run TV ads with a known designer using that pronunciation as tongue-in-cheek; probably less than a year ago IIRC.
Interesting, though perhaps not a first. I know H+M (Swedish womenswear) has had in various celebrity designers. IIRC Madonna designed a range for some chain and 'everyone went mad', invading the shops and clearing the productsnakatago wrote:FWIW, I heard that Aldi also got a different known designer for its clothing line.

Now, if only Aldi/Lidl etc could get a look-in to SGn retail. A lot of their stuff is surprisingly good quality despite being 'suspiciously cheap'

Perhaps this is the Aldi tie-up you have in mind... ->

Daily Mail headline of the day
'Transgender former head boy of £30,000-a-year vegetarian boarding school died after drugs binge two days before she was due to get go-ahead for gender change surgery'
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... light.html
[To be clear... there is no humour in the story itself, it's very sad. But the various elements that make up the headline (class, wealth, sexuality, general titillation etc) are classic DM]

Re: Sundry humour
Today in a supermarket I saw a poster up with details of a prize-draw. The top prize was a 'BMW 320 IED'. And I was thinking IED, Improvised Explosive Device, is that for real... wow that's lousy branding!
So when I got home I Googled it. It turns out it's not 'IED', it is in fact BMW 320i ED, er... as in Erectile Dysfunction.... I'm not sure which is worse!

That would explain the driving frustrations those drivers usually show. However, if it were IED as long as it was designed to only take out the driver it would be great.
