Renounce PR

Post by ali66 » Mon, 30 Jun 2014 1:02 pm

Hi, can anyone give advice on our predicament.

My husband, myself and our 9 year old son are currently PR. We intended to stay in Singapore until our son had finished his education and his NS. We are originally from the UK. However, with what is currently happening in the Banking industry (my husband works for Barclays and is lucky to still have a job!!), we have been told that he will more than likely be transferred to New York in 18 months time. Therefore our predicament is how do we renounce PR for our son because we are now moving to NY and will make that our home, we no longer wish him to do NS if we are not living in Singapore. I believe if we renounce before his 11th birthday, he is not officially yet on the NS register ? The other problem we have is my industry only allows PR to work in it, therefore I need to keep my PR to continue to work full time until we leave for NY. Is it possible to keep my PR but renounce our son's and put him on a student pass until we leave ? I need to continue working for us to afford to live here.

Does anyone know if this is possible ??

Thnks for any advice
Ali
