Post by eeteng88 » Thu, 26 Jun 2014 10:15 pm

Hi, I like to check out the yachting culture in Singapore and if I like to charter a yacht, who should I go to?

Hope to get some great advice and recommendations here:)

Anybody knows what's the cost of, let's say...

Chartering a yacht with a maximum of 10 people (That's not including the captain, right?) for half day and full day in the month of July? I see in those sites, they're all "Prices on request"
My thread...The Weekenders If you need my e-mail address, it's in the first post of the thread.

Hi all....you can charter a yacht through [...sanitized...] . They always have different promos happening, and all the prices are stated very clearly on the website. Highly recommended!!

Please, do not advertise or you will be banned.

Let's just say real expats know where to put their money in, and the right money for the right value.

I like most this sort of things:
Client will need to cater food and beverages from the approved panel of providers. Otherwise, up to $700 of food surcharge and $350 corkage surcharge may be levied.

This is on top of ~2k for a half day on a catamaran.

The biggest pain is that you can't actually go anywhere nice, I charted a boat and ended up in St John Island ( what a dump) water was nasty sort of oily and the sand was more like mud, ended up cutting short the trip and coming back.

Its not like boating in HK where you can go to fun hidden beaches, fresh water streams and great food in shack like restaurants out in the sticks.

Expats can afford a lot of things.... I am not an expat. Just an ang moh on a local contract :)

Went to Pulau Hantu for snorkeling quite a few years ago.
Friend got a bumboat to take us all out.
Remember it being only ~$50/person.

Tioman can be an ad hoc place to get a day/w-e charter. It's a place where some serious yachtie-types tend to anchor up for RnR, Repairs and well, RnR.

So wouldn't surprise me to find 5-10 yachts resting up in the dock at any one time, and a couple more than willing to take a charter out for a casual day or weekend. It's a small place, any dive centre would be able to hook you up into this.

p.s. I remember a few years ago. Going down to the jetty each morning to the dive boat. Moored up next by was an American, maybe 70-75 years old, on a lovely old c50 footer, that he was sailing right around the world (from CA). En route, he's picked up a decidedly nubile and saucy young lady companion in the Solomon Islands I think, aged about 20. Anywhere else you'd probably call the police...

Thank you for your posts. I am planning to do a bbq lunch for my parents' birthday in july, and perhaps invite some of my relatives on board.

Called up some of the contacts posted here. and www.theepicureanstate.com gave a $2.3k with another 5% off for 16 pax from 11-3pm including captain, crew and food. They even volunteered to give complimentary wines to celebrate the occasion with us.

Not sure if it is a good deal. Saw their facebook page and their customer gave quite good review. What do you think?
