Two weeks ago I went on a sunday to the Golden Mile Complex to eat some good Thai Food. That was the first time that i visited this place. I noticed that there were some Karaoke Bars and Thai Disco. I like Thai-pop-songs and i'm thinking about to check out this place on a weekend evening. I know that at the golden mile the guest workers from thailand us to hang out and a saw a lot of man sitting on tables and drinking a lot of alcohol. I just wondered if i might get in any quarrel if I visit "their" place. I'm not a coward, i'm just aware of my surrounding and a i only want to avoid any kind of unnecessary trouble.
So, any experiences to share?

Simple "cheap pub rule": get out from there before midninght. After midnight some individuals are so drunk that they are not able to control themselves. Very easy to take part in the fight because "somebody dislike the way you've looked at him".
Just my suggestion. I have my own pub in Lucky Plaza.

I've only been there once on a Sunday but that was quite scarey - 2 guys were fighting in the mall and one smashed a bottle over the others head
and then their mates all dived in for a go!!! Perhaps that was a one off but I wouldnt rush back there on a Sunday evening!!!

My wife is Thai and she won't go near the Golden Mile on weekends or at night time. Farang bashing is becoming increasingly popular as Thai men become more and more resentful of western men fuelled by Thaksins nationalistic policy. Add alcohol and it's a recipie for disaster. The midnight rule does not apply with Thais from the North East as they have no problems with being on thier 2nd bottle of Sang Thip by 8am in the morning.
The 'this is Singapore' argument doesnt hold either. I've got friends that have had thier rib cages smashed in being in the wrong bar at the wrong time..always racially motivated.
Personally I wouldnt go but it's your choice so be prepared for any of the consequences...
