Has anyone used icarsclub for short term rental of private cars? I was thinking of using them today - to get a small hatchback which was advertised at $7 per hour. Just wanted the car for 5 hours to run a few errands, and this would definitely beat the price I would pay in taxis!

I really wanted to like the business as they sound like they are trying to do the right thing.

But then when I started the booking process, the fuel cost comes up per hour. Ok that's fine, $20, cars don't run on fresh air .... yet ... Keep going

Then on the next screen the insurance cost .....$17 ... Ok, well yeah, I guess it wasn't mentioned before but actually I would have thought this should be built in to the rate ... Starting to get discouraged ....

Then I look at the total and there's a deposit .... $100 ... non-refundable until after 1 year and only when you terminate membershup

So $7 an hour, 5 hours, total S$ 172.99

I'll be getting taxis today!

Like I say I wanted to like these guys but the kind of business practice where you lead customers in and hide the charges until they might have emotionally bought in and might not back out isn't the best sustainable tactic, which is a big shame

Sounds like they've copied the Ryanair model where they advertise a seat for £1 but it ends up costing 10x as much! Stick to Taxis!
