Time for family - Silkair pilot

Post by Apilotswife » Fri, 20 Jun 2014 6:50 am

Hi! I'm a working mother of 3 and my hubby is thinking of joining the airlines (Silkair) in hope of getting more freedom and family time.

My concern is that my children and I are only free on weekends, so I'm not sure how much time we would actually have together.

Any advice please?

How much time would a working mother have with a silkair pilot?

Why don't you ask your... err husband?

If he is already a tech crew he would surely know the working conditions/lifestyle of Legacy/LCC/Crop Jet crew.

You spent many years with CX as a purser, why can't you be a little more civil and actually try to help somebody instead of trying to be an all around douchebag (which you are doing superbly well at, by the way).

I only have 'O' levels but my job pays me $SGD120K p/a as a Chief Purser.excluding bonus and profit share. When I retire at age 55 I will get a lump sum gratuity payment.

The point I am trying to make is don't limit yourself to just a little pond there is an ocean out there!
Therefore, the way I see it, you were a liar in 2008 or you are a liar in 2014. Must be one or the other. Hoists & petards spring to mind.

Ok Mr. Moderator with 2978K [Gosh, you doing this full time?] posts.I'll chime in:

Mi is the regional wing of SQ.It's a very tight, friendly operation.Roster is not fatigue inducing most monthly flying hrs in the high 80s,Pattern is 5 days on 2 G days for A320 and some standby days. There are a few night-stops but on the whole majority are x-arounds.I am not up with their pay scales but i reckon 16-18K for Kapitan.FO should be approx 12K.Their fleet has the addition of the latest B738MAX other than that they are operating pretty beat-up A320s.
Just remember the cost of living is very high in Singapore and if you are on Local contract you may have to adjust to a lower lifestyle. In summary not a bad out-fit with reasonable work-life balance.
