When I first read it, I thought it was a joke or a part of that "things the embassy hears" article.
Actually, it might be kind of fun to start writing similar letters to this girl as a satire campaign. We should all pick funny pen-names and come up with outrageous scenarios like this.

My employer did not take AT ALL KINDLY to me writing to the papers, even over this nonsense.
