Exemptions for Domestic workers visa for our older Nanny

Post by Dubaiexpat » Wed, 18 Jun 2014 2:57 am

Has anyone heard about exemptions for helpers who don't meet the age/education requirement needed for a visa normally? Ours is 51 and never finished high school. She has 25 years experience as a nanny/housekeeper though and speaks fluent English

She has worked for us for many years and is a wonderful nanny/helped raised the kids from birth whilst we went out working full time. We are all attached to her/kids think she is like grandma. I know the Employment Act recognises that appeals are possible if a work pass is refused but does anyone have any practical experience of any such exemptions being granted?

We have found an agency to assist, but they are not sure what the answer will be.

thank you very much, we will try. Our Yaya will need to brush up on her English reading skills.
