speciality food at decent prices

Post by african01 » Sat, 14 Jun 2014 9:45 pm

Hi all

Im south African and want to know if there is any shop to purchase or order treats from home other than using Springbok bazar which seems to be fairly expensive.

Specifically looking for the meat items like sausage (boerewors) and jerky
( droewors /biltong)

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Short of making friends with a pilot with SAA, it's about your only choice. My niece used to work for SAA in Seletar Aerohub but they are no longer there so I've lost my network as well.

No idea other than Springbok.

i am not sure if this store is springbok bazaar:

bukit timah shopping center (the one with NTUC in the basement).

go to the third or fourth floor. there's a store selling SA stuff. i saw an SA flag and a springboks pennet (?) on the store front.

if that's the store, then... sorry i couldn't be of help.

Hi Sundaymorningstaple - Total logic reply!!!! Why did I never think of that.?? Clearly would have to broaden my network but guess finding crew or pilot is going to be hard. Will do some research on importing.

Hey african01, just to let you know, it seems you posted the above reply using a Facebook login, which means that your (real?) name is visible. Thought you ought to be aware of that, in case you want to repost the reply using your singaporeexpats login.

Hey there!

I saw Biltongs and so forth at Swiss Butchery (apparently they make their own). I haven't seen much SA stuff around. But I guess the reply above helped. Happy Hunting
