In developed countries, there are certain bad elements who will make racial attacks. But majority of the people are very friendly and have genuine racial tolerance. If are in the wrong places at wrong times, yes chances are you might get attacked. But on a regular basis people of trains, buses etc smile at you, talk with you and dont treat you like an alien.

In Singapore, the bad elements have been controlled so much that they cannot do anything. But even the general public at large dont seem to have a big liking for foreigners and majority think that all problems to them are caused by foreigners and you get that feeling whereever you go in Singapore. Its become us v/s them

That is the difference!
+1

Hannieroo

the Singaporeans complain but don't get physical ... they know the repercussions for getting physical

that's a big difference comparing with countries where racial attack = physical violence / pop a couple of 9 mm, or a baseball/cricket bat ...

maybe this sums up the locals frustration

Then I asked the lady, who was a nice Filipino in the customer service, about if there is any difference in termination charges b/w the 2 and the difference is huge. Fibre broadband termination in less than 1 yr you need to pay another $350 extra and also if you relocate to another house you need to pay $200.
I instantly chose the cable broadband. To this the Filipino lady agreed whole heartedly. She responded "We as foreigners keep changing houses and yes your decision is right to go with the cable broadband"

For us its tough being No.1 and seeing the slum element dragging us done.

BTW we are labeling ourselves, the whole world is labeling us -tough eh? ha,ha..suck it up people! http://travel.cnn.com/singapore/none/wo ... o-1-399897

e.g Dead bodies in bags,Riots, cheating,ATM,Credit card skimming,Cyclist with middle finger obscene sign,Gweilo insulting train commuters,Snatch theft, crazy drivers,Cheating, embezzlement,CBT,New and obscure diseases.etc

Oh Singapore.

The irony is our 'esteemed' new immigrants are also wondering what's great about it...well why do you think?

Either you are a joker, a fool or a person living in your own cocoon.

Neither do you know what race means, nor do you know whan a nation means......not your fault when your nation is just 49 years old.

Price! I got the 100mbps 2 yr contract with starhub @ $39.90 per month and 1st 6 months free, so effectively it is $29.90 per month over the 2 yr period.

The last I saw MyRepublic 24 month contract starts from $50 per month, I can only imagine no contract would be even more expensive, if there is one.

https://secure.myrepublic.com.sg/pricing.php
Our standard fibre broadband contract is 24 months. We have a 12-month contract option with no promotional pricing i.e. you would have to pay the plan's Usual Price.

You should travel around the world then you will get a dose of reality.

Try Saudi or HK first.
Blade wrote:Earlier post stated we are jelly of them pinoys! ha ha.

Don't have to 'show' or prove anything lah..We are No.1 in the whole world [surpassed Swiss also],richest and smartest too, when we see our beautiful 'Island nation' become a dumping ground for parasite dwellers from 3rd world slums how do you think we feel?

Were you here during Singaporeans's Golden era?
Blade wrote:Singapore version 1, was built by guess who: Singaporeans.

Version 2 is the dumping down of Singapore by the "Quitters".

Q:"If you're all so rich and smart then why did your island nation "become a dumping ground for parasite dwellers from 3rd world slums" ?

Ans: bcos we don't do menial work [see other 1st world nations], thats done by 3rd world, no pride quitters.

And the those who rushed here to live in Utopia, it's not the Singapore you read about anymore [see 2nd paragraph above]ha ha...

And dont worry I am born and bred here i reserve the right to criticize my fellow Sinkies.Others have not earned that and will never.
Blade wrote:And BTW go find out what the word Xenophobic means.

We are certainly not, infact We have been welcoming outsiders for 300 years.
Blade wrote:"SINGAPORE IS 49 YEARS OLD????"

This is the stuff you guys are fed?

What was it before then ? a Banana plantation?

Oh, don't get your knickers all knotted up we love the Ukraine and Pinoy [Spanish half ancestry type] girls at Girly bars.More should come! ha ha..

"However, I wonder what it is that Blade thinks the original Singaporeans, a combination of Malay and Chinese, actually built. Not Marina Bay, methinks, nor the houses of parliament"

We built the SINGAPORE BRAND.It's not something physical like the grotesque MBS or Gardens by the Bay..GET IT?
Blade wrote:I hope ignorance is not contagious..

Singapore is 49 years old! Wow!.

For you information Singapore was doing very well even before the economic genocide by Raffles and his EIC.

Oh, and if your MNC COO is busy reading racists blogs and getting up-set by them, then he shouldn't run a business in Asia. You think Singapore holds the monopoly on bigotry? [Google that word]

Definitely Singapore is too high level for his business.

The MNC COOs I know are too busy making money and are too thick skinned to worry about this drivel.
Blade wrote:"Before Raffles arrived, there were around 1,000 people living in Singapore, mostly Malays and a few dozen Chinese"

Oh yah? how do hey know that? You shouldn't believe everything you read on the WWW, certainly not Wikipedia.
Blade wrote:Like i said you shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet..

Singaporeans [born and bred and gone thur the 'system'] have very high IQ but low EQ so what?.We are what we are, if not happy then the door is on your left..try this:http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014 ... n-benefits

Cannot just come of a boat and become a Sinkie just like that. You have to also know where the best Hokkien Popiah can be had etc.

Rest of the world is copying us -it's tough looking up at No.1 right?
Blade wrote:People who eat Vadai and other Indian dosh don't count -as a taxi driver once commented to me "they are invisible" people. Any knows what is implied by that?

"So Singaporean" EXACTLY.

But so many want to become Singaporeans, so perplexing isn't it??

For me, I m proudly Singaporean and won't forsake or give up on my motherland for the sake of PINK IC.

You should be proud of where you are from don't be a 'Quitter' people will respect you more.
Blade wrote:Yup, good remember that..

Derogatory, insulting? you should view some of the anti-Singaporeans sentiments of the web.But we don't go whinging and crying to their Gov.like babies. We too thick skinned lah.

i.e Singaporeans barred form entering Batam for "Talking Singlish too loud".

You want to live here GROW SOME BALLS.
Blade wrote:Yes, Singapore is a socially stratified nation. But to understand why you really have to know the history of the communal race riots of the 50 & 60s. If you have no reference point then you should just sit down and shut up.

DO you know why we don't allow RACIAL ENCLAVES in any housing estate?
No? go find out then I will explain more.

Quote:"Singapore is the most racist place" ? well that depends alot on what you yourself are? North Indian? you go in this box,AMDK? you go in this box..Pinoy? go in the box..etc.

But,but everyone is guilty of the same thing right?
Blade wrote:Ha,ha guess what: look who is posting derogatory, racist,Xenophobic comments?. See what I mean.

Difference is we don't go crying to mummy. We are like that bcos we are No. 1 get it?

BTW that description of uncouthness goes for alot of other cultures and nationalities. We don't own the monopoly on bad behavior.

The 'Singapore Brand' is the 'CAN DO,PRAGMATIC,HIGH IQ,HIGH INTEGRITY,PRACTICAL problem solving ethic.

It's what made Singapore No.1 in the whole Universe.

Now what we have is a dilution of this 'Brand'.Remember the Utopia is not the Singapore your read about in the promotional blurbs and made you abandon your mother-land and run here.We were so much better then.

Why? bcos real Singaporeans don't give a rat's ass anymore.

are you really that thick? did you look at the last line in that article?

....What have we missed or are we on the money? Tell us what you think makes Singapore the greatest city on this big planet of ours.
Or do you need to see the impressive cases for Bangkok, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Tokyo, and Shanghai?
and each of them had 50 reasons why they were No.1

I first lived here 20 years ago. I am not sure if the scale of any issue of racism is down to bare facts, or my circumstances.

First stint I was putting in a typical 12hr day. Too busy to notice anything that wasn't core to my day, or end of week RnR. A larger issue that did cross the radar was the paranoia of the government, censorship, inability to express opinions etc. I was aware of HDB quotas etc.

#2. Sensing more friction. Race based riots!?

#3. Here we are. It seems like a really hot issue. But maybe I only know and care because now I have time to read the news... ?

legal recourse? of course yesssss

like a famous Indian comedian said ... on every visit of his to USA he gets 'randomly' picked for additional screening by ICE agents ....

it happens Randomly every time ... :P

oh, you can lodge a complaint for being Randomly lucky every time, then what??????
This absolutely does happen. And you can absolutely do something about it when it does.

What can you do when you're turned down for an apartment here because you have brown skin, or because of a government-sanctioned quota? Nothing.
