70% of space in Shopping Centres will be F&B by 2020

The shopping centres are pretty dull already ........

This is gonna make them even less interesting if thats possible.

Though as I have commented before the eating places in the Malls are ususally the only places with more than one or two people in them.

The malls here are so pathetic, the same copy paste formula everywhere, there's frankly nothing unique about any of them. I'm growing increasingly averse to them and spending more time in non mall areas.

I wonder what will happen if one day all the malls decide to close shop for the day, what would people do?
My theory is a mass lemming like suicide

Considering how much the housewares sections seem to have grown in the past few years, you'd think more Singaporeans were cooking at home. I find it crazy how often people eat out here.

A huge majority of those kitchen wares are all high end and in chrome or designer colours and the kitchens are to be admired, not used. In fact, I don't think half of the under 40's even know how to cook more than a basic fried rice and maybe one or two other dishes and the ability to boil water without burning it (maybe). Also, if they cook at home they have to clean up their own tables and sinks and you know how some here like to spit their bones, shell, pits, whatever, all over the table tops, even in fine dining restaurants and lord knows they won't clean up behind themselves, rather leaving it for a maid. Therefore the kitchen is a conversation piece only.
