Teaching at an enrichment school without a 4 year degree?

Post by whiteboy » Sun, 01 Jun 2014 1:48 pm

Hello everyone. My girlfriend will relocate to Singapore because of her company and I want to live there with her if possible. I don't possess a 4 year college degree, but I have 5 years experience teaching English in China. I have taught children, teens and adults in classes and one-to-one. I keep seeing ads online for job openings at enrichment English schools in Singapore and a lot of them don't list having a degree as a requirement? I plan to get a TESOL in Cambodia, since it is cheap there. I really want to know if working at a school like this is possible. I would appreciate any help.

Foreigners cannot do freelance or part-time work, as these cram schools require (they cannot sponsor visas!).
Also, there is no market for English as a second language, as you know it from China or elsewhere, in Singapore. The cram schools help regular school children get better grades - and all schooling is done in English anyway.

Years ago it may have been possible. Not likely now. Stay in China or just fly down to see your gf.
