Student pass for Graduate Study at NUS if parent is PR

Post by shaz213 » Mon, 26 May 2014 10:23 pm

My father is a singapore PR who worked in Singapore till last year. I was not made a PR and did my entire schooling in India.

I got an admit to NUS for a funded PhD programme. I want to know whether my student pass will be rejected by ICA because I was not made a dependent PR.

I reckon you'll know soon enough.

I wish to have an idea about this sooner so that I can decide on my other university admits. Please do give some idea on this issue.

Financial engineering from NUS/NTU vs CFA

Post by nlr3169 » Fri, 27 Mar 2015 8:26 pm

Hello seniors in Finance and professionals. I want to do masters in Financial engineering Full time from NUS/NTU . I have completed CFA level 2 and wish to sit for level 3 next year. This is because I am an engineering graduate from the local university with many modules of finance education and wish to move to the finance industry as it is challenging and rewarding. But i work in a core engineering area with no finance industry experience. With CFA level 3 and MFE from NUS/NTU will it be easy for me to enter the Banking/Financial sector? Thanks in advance.

If the course is a funded one ( stipend included), may be it's a pain point. If not, then yes you will be.

If the area of research is integral to SG, then certainly yes.

Overall, I have not heard of any student pass rejections for NUS/NTU here. So, good luck.

None of us work for the ICA and thus, none of us know. If we say 'we're about to find out,' that means you'll just have to wait for ICA's decision.

All international students must hold a valid Student's Pass (SP) issued by the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) for their studies at NUS.
