Apartment Reviews ?

Post by MSH69 » Thu, 22 May 2014 3:02 pm

Hi everyone, im new here, my first post!
We will be moving to Singapore in Sept for a minimum of 3 years, and i have found a lot of helpful info on this forum. great info thx to you all.

I am in search for our new home, its not easy finding the perfect spot.

I would like to ask if this forum provides any reviews from ppl who lived at a certain location?

for example, the top places that really got my attention are Reflections, Caribbean, and Centennia.

Any reviews on the mentioned three places ?

Thanks and looking forward to meet new faces in my new home :)

A few property sites have reviews but I've found them to be biased (usually written by desparate landlords).

It's tough to find reviews of apartments/condos online. Generally speaking, finding reviews of almost anything online is tougher in Singapore than it was in the USA. Oftentimes there might be one or two reviews, but you don't often get a broad range of opinions.

For what it's worth, I've been to visit Reflections at Keppel Bay once and it's very nice.

Search here for "reflections", I'm sure there was a thread specifically on that sometime in the last 6 months

Hi,

I moved into Caribbean a few weeks ago. Feel free to ask any questions and Ill answer as best I can.

Really like the place so far. Perfect for me really and only annoyance is the taxi uncles who drive around the car park aimlessly trying to find me!

Reflections is next door which looks very nice indeed and they both share a private walkway to the little marina which is nice for a walk and has a nice bar/restaurant.

timothychua wrote:Indeed! Reflections is one of the favourites for my clients as well! But the rent prices are comparatively higher due to the high demand as landlord takes the chance to jackup the price. You should look at some less-overrated ones that just TOP like Sophia Residence located at Dhoby Ghaut. As many units are renting there, the price tends to be more competitive. Just my 2 cents worth =)

Puh-lease. Reflections is only half occupied, especially the villa units. Some landlords had to lower down their prices or risk running losses on vacant units. Too expensive for their own good.

He's an agent; did you really expect him to say anything other than the same old BS that most of them trot out at any opportunity, regardless of the actual state of the market?

You could start towards deriving a shortlist of candidates by following this...
http://forum.singaporeexpats.com/ftopic101985.html

Consider it a 'bottom up' approach. Whereas picking a few condos risks being rather 'top down'. I.e. you overlook other viable or better options, and do not consider some important aspects, right at the outset of your search.

Considering the listed points, as linked, and thus homing in on suitable and viable areas will also give any agent/realtor working for you a leg-up too. Which would make their task of helping you find what you really want, a heck of a lot simpler for all.

Good luck.
