Relocating to Singapore. Need advice on schools

Hi all

We are relocating to Singapore from Hong Kong and wanted to get some advise/suggestions on schools in SG. We are relocating from HK where our daughter (6.5 years) studies in an ESF school.
We are aware that there are local schools, international and indian schools in SG but we are quite confused on what should we look at?

Some of the International Schools in SG are either too expensive or have long waiting time.
Any suggestions and recommendations will be very helpful. We are thinking to make the move by August this year.Is that alright? Or are we late or early about thinking for schools

If the reading ability of the director of admissions is such that they cannot see the "Your account will be banned if you post ads" notice then It would be a fair for me to assume they are not the right people to teach my kids literacy.

The system here is a bit different than Hong Kong - there are fewer locals in International Schools, so you aren't competing with them for places in the so-called top ones. But - there are a number of mediocre International Schools so do your homework.

Local schools are an option but getting a place can be a challange. Visit the MOE web site and read through the long and somewhat convoluted admission process. Basically if you are a foreigner you are at the bottom of the list and will get whatever is leftover after all the balloting is completed. I've known people who are very happy with the local system and others who've had some very serious problems with teachers and the overall approach. Those who are happy tend to be PRs who had a bit more choice in their school, or those who are intermarried to a local who knows how to work the system.
