Aussie family moving to SG - where should we live?

Post by Miss Eff Jai » Fri, 09 May 2014 9:32 pm

We are an Aussie family of 5 (twins aged 6 and an 8 year old) moving to singapore in June. (Very exited!) Our kids will be going to the Australian int. school and my husband will be working in both suntec and orchard areas. We hope to spend about $8300 pm on either a condo with full facilities or a larger cluster house. We won't have a car, so the kids will take the school bus service.

We are considering a new condo in Central area cairnhill/ newton/ novena or possibly hillcrest area. Any advice or suggestions most welcome.

If you can, spend a month in serviced accommodation and check out various areas for yourself.

Personally I'd look more south towards the River Valley area stretching from Robertson Quay to Great World City. Anywhere along/close to the river will be great.

Living along the river you can go for long walks/bike rides with the kids without worrying about crossing streets, etc. (you could even go as far as the Marina Bay Sands without having to cross a single road/intersection). Plus there's loads of eateries and watering holes along the river too. In terms of supermarkets you have a Cold Storage at both Great World City and UE Square, as well as Singapore's only Meidi-Ya supermarket in Liang Court.
