PR for HK wife

Post by Undeadinsomnia » Wed, 07 May 2014 12:54 am

Dear all

been reading this forum every now and then. me and my HK wife just got married few days back so I can finally start to plan for her PR in order for her to re-locate here and also being able to work.

Problem now is Im not exactly sure how difficult(or maybe easier?) for a Hong Konger to get a PR here. I know we wont know for sure...but Im hoping for a feel because in the worst scenario I wont get it in the next 1-2 years,I might have to start looking at LTVP since we are both not young(35,32) we are hoping to have children

My annual pay is about 47K for last year and it will increased by mid year for sure(my company runs their financial year from June-May).For her its about 30K

I also understand the PR application need not be submitted here as I see it can be done in HK via the Singapore Consulate.Reason is the next appointment is somewhere in Nov....

Thank everyone for their time :D

Are you a SP? if so, your income may be on the boarder line. Being a HK spouse have a better chance. To be safe, apply when both of you have an SP child.

I reckon, if you are a SG citizen, and you married a HK girl, you will need to be married at least 2~3 years before you could even get an LTVP+. At the moment, I'm assuming she works in HK as you indicated she would be applying from HK. If so, where she is from and the fact that she isn't in Singapore already, will definitely be a negative until you have been here as a family unit for at least two years or have a child. PR? Probably not until 4 to 5 years as your income alone will be borderline as you would have to sponsor and we know that around 4K+ is the currently assumed kickoff figure. Try if you want, but don't be disappointed as if you are a local and marrying an HK/PRC girl, it will not be looked at favourably initially, so it may take repeated tries and a couple of years as noted.
