What makes you happy?

Post by nanana » Sat, 26 Apr 2014 11:13 am

Feeling kinda down lately. Nothing seems to be going my way. Don't know when was the last time that I really feel HAPPY.
So am just gonna steal some of your happiness. Please kindly share your HAPPIEST moment here, if you do have one. Or things that make you happy. Perhaps I can use some of your suggestions to be happy again. (Not saying I'm miserably depressed. Just feel kinda numb, day in day out everyday just the same, if you know what I mean).

Family/Friends. Having my little daughter around is reason enough to be cheered and happy.

Laughing at the misfortune of others on a bad day; on a good day like today helping a stranger and being with my kids and wife.

Being with warm and genuine people and good friends (which are few and far between). Cooking a dish from scratch and tasting good for the first time. Reading an interesting book and completing the read in 1 day. Achieving 50 laps of front crawl in a 100 metre pool within my target time without stopping. Being with my parents. Talking to my sister who's just migrated to Europe :(
Life is short hence I live it to its fullest, that is .... I eat and sleep

This might sound silly, but visit Gardens By The Bay if you haven't already done so (even if you're not a plant person). Go to the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome, but check their web site ahead of time to be sure part of it is not closed down for a maintenance day.

If you go, I'd suggest doing so during the week because it's less crowded. The conservatories are poorly lit at night, so daytime hours are best. If you can't make it during the week, go on a weekend. Going in the cooled conservatories is like getting out of Singapore because it doesn't involve sweating.

I'm sorry you've been feeling down. Hopefully things improve for you soon.

p.s. Though this refers to something a 'little' heavier than a couple of beers.

What has this forum come to? :P

OP, I am happiest having long conversations with my friends and people who are passionate about their interests/work/what they're doing in general. I also love spending time at ECP late evenings- great to be away from the CBD rush and materialism and its lovely to enjoy the moon and the stars on a clear night.

I also enjoy meeting new people and trying out new things. I love my Book club meetings, French film get togethers, the occasional yoga class  ...
And I love to sing along to Pharrell Williams' "Happy" - what an awesome song!

Getting shag ?

Killing someone?

Being an a*sehole?

All the above makes me happy and sad, day in day out

1.) Traveling
2.) My two daughters and my beautiful wife
3.) Skyping with my very old parents back home
4.) Going to the pub midday. Drink beers to late night, then hit the clubs till the break of dawn.

Number 1 and 4 not happening very often because of number 2 :)

The wife & I being empty-nesters before we are too damned old to enjoy it would make me a very happy chappy.

In your legs ?
That's called Cider !! - the proper Devon stuff. Once had a massive session on Fowlers 'Cripple Cock Farmyard Scrumpy'. Sober as a judge until I tried to stand up. No feeling whatsoever :)
