securing accommodation mid visa application

Postby mmgb14 » Tue, 22 Apr 2014 6:38 pm

I'm currently looking into securing accommodation in Singapore for one of our employees (we are a British based company with an office in Singapore). He is currently on a temporary working visa and we're waiting for his full visa to come through. Would it be possible to sign a tenancy agreement whilst on a short term visit pass (i.e. no employment pass?). If not, can we (a Singapore registered company) sign the contract in our company name, then transfer this over to the employee once his visa comes through?

But you both have residence permits (either an EP or DP or LTVP).

In this case the lodger will have neither, but if MOM has issued a temporary work permit while the processing of the EP is in progress, I see no issue with the company picking up the lease and then transferring it after such time as the EP processing has been completed. A temporary work pass is allowing the employee to start working so it is legitimizing the residency anyway.

be mindful that the TA needs to be re$tamped when a new one is made. not a big deal so long as all parties know who needs to pay for it.
