Every man should own a tux. Not cost effective? Sure it is. For the cost of three rentals you've paid for you own. I had one custom tailored for my wedding in 1983 (in a timeless country-western cut) :o I wore it for my 25 anniversary 5.5 years ago. Fit me better 5 years ago than it did on my wedding. Also it tends to help keep you on your toes, weight-wise (I didn't so I had to lose 25 kg in 5 months in order to wear it), I can wear it today as well. Good investment, but if you buy, get it made in Tropical weight wool and have the trousers lined at least to just above the knees. Couple of trips to the opera and the casino and you've paid for it several times over.

Good luck on that one. I had the same need a few years ago in order to attend the Navy Ball. I went to every wedding and bridal shop I could find. Not one of them rented tuxes. I ended up buying one.

Several around on the web. For future reference for anyone looking - I went to Fashion Tailors in Orchard Plaza. Very helpful, nice suits, altered to fit etc. $130 for Tux, Bow Tie and Cummerbund. Must remember to bring mine back to Sing next time I'm home !!

Yeah, but we already know the average local has absolutely no class or dress sense. Doesn't mean I have to stoop to the lowest common denominator, does it?

I'm sorry, I've tried not to comment. Dinner suit, people!
