I'm just looking for some advice on the market out there.
The wife is being transferred and I'm trying to figure out what's the best approach for me bearing in mind the following.
All of the jobs I'm seeing are asking for a degree etc which I do not have despite being in a mid - senior role for some very recognizable global companies. I have 25 years experience as an IT Generalist / IT manager with a very broad range of skills.
Also, I'd really love to contract / start my own support business if feasible, despite being a poor salesman!
Any (constructive) advice greatly appreciated.
Chris
Yes/No/Maybe?
After a certain level of experience, a degree becomes less relevant. Nevertheless, some companies won't hire you because of your lack of one. What is your question exactly?
- Is it possible to find a job? Certainly.
- How long will it take to find one? Anything between a month and a year or never, depending on your expectations.
- Where to look? There are several posts on this, and the job websites are not hard to find.
- Will you get a work visa? Nobody knows, but if your salary is > $8K, chances are good.
For starting a company - that is really up to you. Also read existing posts on starting a company on DP/LOC or EP.
