Student's pass

Post by joan bkl » Sat, 12 Apr 2014 3:17 pm

I am Malaysian. I am EP Q1 and my husband holding work permit. I came since 2013. We wish to work and stay here.My daughter 6 years old.I had applied student pass Since July 2013 and appealed three times and reapply on Dec'13 and still rejected. The child care is licensed under MSF.This August have to register primary school. But the chances obtain the student pass is slim.Anyone can advice me? We wish to stay here permanently, but without the student pass, my girl only can stay here three months and go back Malaysia for one month. If failed to get the pass, she can't study here, what can I do so that can get the Student pass??

Frankly: get a job that pays better. I am not sure about SP, but DP requires minimum 4K salary of either parent.

Otherwise, realize that SG currently does not want your family here (sorry for the harsh truth) and find a job in a friendlier country.

The question is not exactly if she can get the student pass or not, the question is if there is room in P1 this year...

Quite a few quite children from parents either passing the border everyday, or living in SG but not qualifying for DP at the same time, are in the local school system.

Go through the process of getting her admitted in P1 ( you are looking at a phase 3 admission) this coming summer

If you're lucky she gets in and gets an SP, if there is too many children already in the system you're out of luck for this year...

And might maybe try it again for P2 ( through AEIS) the year after.

Hi,

Finally i managed to get the admission in the primary school but the STP still rejected.

The only pass is to get DP, and luckily the application was approved.

I want to tq for your advice.

The DP is the better pass anyway. That way, between school years she doesn't need to worry as the DP is valid as long as the EP is as it is tied directly to your EP. Lose the EP, the child loses the DP. But the flip side is that if you lose your EP, Husband's WP will not allow DP. Then child loses place in school unless can get Student Pass later. Good Luck.
