Duties on importing alcohol etc

Post by Liam555 » Sun, 06 Apr 2014 2:25 pm

Hi guys,

I want to ship some alcohol over from Australia for my wedding in SG. I am wondering whether duties etc are calculated by reference to the price paid or by market value? I can't find any information online..

Thanks in advance,

Liam

By volume and type (i.e. wine/beer/spirits) I believe. No reference to the price paid or market value.

VAT on the paid price. Plus, alcohol tax based on the absolute amount of alcohol in it. check customs Singapore website.

http://www.customs.gov.sg/leftNav/trad/ ... +Goods.htm
Example : Importation of 100 litres of Port Wine with alcoholic strength of 19%
Duty = 100 x $88.00 x 0.19 = $1672.00

Positively the best price you'll get for booze in Singapore is at Chandramart at 232 Serangoon Road. And, if you have a quantity to buy or a special order, they have always been helpful. JW Black always at least $20 to $25 less per bottle than at Cold Storage, as an example.
