Post by aln_ll » Wed, 26 Mar 2014 10:07 pm

Hi,

May I know what are the reasons for a student's pass to be rejected by ICA?

Thank you :)

Maybe they see through the ruse to Go to School just so they can stay in Singapore?

There are a number of reasons which could cause a student pass to be rejected. Criminal records, fake certificates, history of overstaying, ...

I feel that you asking the question gives some indication on what the outcome might be. Are you expecting your application to be rejected ?

hmm.. cause im asking for my friend. she has been staying in Singapore for almost 7 years then like she was expelled from her foundation program. She never had a bad attendance, criminal records and all.. so she is planning to go to this bachelor degree program (waiting for an application outcome). so she is extremely worried that she wont be able to continue her studies here in singapore.

how old is your friend?

what has she been doing during her 7 years in singapore?

why was she expelled?

if she was expelled from her foundation program, how would she be able to continue with a bachelor program?

Accidental or not, this is likely to be a reason for rejection, don't you think?

That may be the case, but how to prove it?

Has your friend already received a rejection of the Student Pass application?

Not yet she's still applying to uni and waiting for the answer...

Sure, even more accidental if you repeat it few more time. That's fine, we believe you. Now go and convince ICA.

Indeed, x9200, the difficulty will be to convince the ICA. If I understand these things correctly, it's the 'uni' who will apply for the Student Pass, not the student.

I would expect that the ICA will know about the expulsion, so my advice would be to come clean with the 'uni' about it, explain the circumstances and hope that they will want to help.

The alternative is to keep quiet and then be faced with the prospect of the 'uni' finding out and then asking why the information was concealed. Not a good option IMO.

p.s. I wish people would use the proper word (university), but then I guess I'm just old fashioned.
