I’m seeking a Singapore-based tax accountant

Post by James.M » Thu, 13 Mar 2014 3:25 pm

Hello everyone,

I’m seeking a Singapore-based tax accountant familiar with filing personal US tax returns.
Do you know anyone who can do freelance and familiar with this kind of job.

Best regards,
James

Use the search function to find previous posts on this topic.

US embassy's American Citizen Services (ACS) list shows 5 last I checked:
http://singapore.usembassy.gov.....apore.html

However, the embassy gives no comment nor assurance regarding their capabilities.
They only need to have some credentials and an office here.

Taxes For Expats (TFE) shows a SG office:
http://www.taxesforexpats.com/.....ional.html

They're not on the embassy's list yet.

Then, of course, there are the big name firms, e.g. PWC, E&Y, etc.
They're expensive, but this may be OK if you've got an employer paying the fee for you.

Another member of this forum suggested Artio Partners (I understand that they advertise on this forum):
http://www.artiopartners.com/

They're not located here in SG, but communication via e-mail is easy enough.

I used a US based firm for years... worked out just fine.

Am wondering if there was an update to this, how the recommendations worked out.

I do my wife's and for simple cases I don't think you'd need an accountant (even though my tax training from my B.Bus was in Oz I seem to be ok at it so far). I've been thinking of using Turbo Tax or similar to help. I can't believe that the US has over 1000 ancillary forms - madness.
