I am Swedish, but I would never pronounce IKEA the way we do in Sweden abroad. The melody and vowel sounds just don't fit with English.

Singaporean taxi drivers keep calling it "Icky-yah"

Heard the CEO interviewed and he was asked this question, he said there is no correct pronunciation.
I am a taxi driver , I would pronounce it the same way as " idea ' , just have the " kea" instead of "dea "

Those legendary pine-tree rainforests of northern Europe issit? 8-) :)

If you think IKEA are that irresponsible perhaps you might take a look at their corporate charters/'principles' here's one example: http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_GB/about-the- ... index.html

It's a curious thing how IKEA, who might me one of the more environmentally responsible companies out there - well they're Swedish, I mean what did you expect!? - have a negative image in some parts. Dunno, maybe it began with 'anti-capitalists' ... ?

... and believe it or not they do not turn teak into chipboard! But if you want a culprit, a target worthy of concern, then consider plywood. That is often made from tropical hardwood; certainly that used in Asia is; note the pinkish hue of mahogany, etc. Used as moulds in poured concrete construction, used once and then thrown away. A 100+ year old king of the jungle destroyed for the sake of saving a few $ building more concrete boxes in the sky...

--- love that IKEA ad... hehehe :)
And yes, it's I as in It, KAY, ER... I-KAY-ER
took me a while to pronounce it like that, Brits by default pronounce it EYE-KEY-ER
